SERPIENTE – Handwoven wool rug inspired by ancestral symbols

The SERPIENTE rug draws its strength from one of the most powerful symbols of Andean cosmology: the serpent. In Indigenous traditions of South America, the serpent represents energy, transformation, and the continuous flow of life. Its dynamic zigzag pattern reflects movement, protection, and the deep connection between nature and humankind.

Set against a natural, undyed wool base, the soft yet vivid pink serpent motif brings a subtle vibrancy and contemporary lightness to the rug. The contrast between calm neutrality and expressive color makes SERPIENTE a striking yet harmonious statement piece – rooted in tradition, reimagined for modern interiors.

Each rug is carefully handwoven on a traditional creole loom using 100% Argentinian sheep’s wool. The wool comes from freely grazing sheep in northern Argentina and is processed locally, preserving its natural texture and warmth.

Woven as a flat weave, SERPIENTE is lightweight, durable, and pleasantly soft underfoot. The compact structure makes it ideal for everyday use while maintaining its artisanal character and timeless appeal.

Every SERPIENTE rug is created in close collaboration with a cooperative in Argentina. Through direct and fair trade, the project supports artisans and their families in vulnerable situations, enabling economic independence and preserving ancestral weaving knowledge.
