IDENTIDAD – Handwoven Wool Rug with Timeless Andean Design

The IDENTIDAD rug combines traditional Andean symbolism with a modern, minimalist aesthetic. Its bold geometric pattern in deep red on a white background represents energy, strength, and life – colors that have held special meaning in Andean culture for centuries.

Each rug is handwoven on traditional looms using 100% Argentinian sheep’s wool. The wool comes from freely grazing sheep in the highlands of northern Argentina and is crafted by a cooperative in the province of Jujuy. The artisanal weaving process gives each rug a subtle texture that brings warmth and character to any space.

The white colour is natural from the sheep's wool. Part of the dyeing process uses plant-based pigments, while other tones are achieved with modern synthetic dyes – creating a harmonious blend of tradition and contemporary style. 

Through fair trade, the weavers receive fair compensation and help preserve age-old techniques that have been passed down through generations.

• 100% Argentinian sheep’s wool
• High wool density: approx. 2 kg/m²
• Two-ply combed yarn
• Exceptionally soft texture

Technique: Flat weave, “Creole” loom

Dyeing: natural white, plant dyes or synthetic dyes (depending on the colour)
